Yo Ho Yo Ho A Doggie's Life For Me
Today there was no obedience class but we did practice at home , but Shirley had an action packed adventure of new exposures yesterday. My parents and I wanted to have fun, but also be able to bring Shirley along with us. So, we picked Pirates Cove as a great place to fulfill both. After we picked our clubs and golf balls, we noticed right from the first hole Shirley would have to put her skills to the test. She faced many obstacles along the way like water everywhere and a cave, slopes, series of stairs, and other golfers and the whole time fighting the urge to chase the golf ball (She did not Chase one ball but did wait in an eager sitting position waiting for one of us to say get it . Shirley did great for all of these obstacles that she faced. She does pull on the leash; we are working on this and it's not all the time. She never seems to get discouraged with the right abouts or sit and forward and saying easy NO and do a leash correction , but I feel that she made a major step forward toward her goal :) We played at pirates cove old town and it was muscle car night which equals loud fast cars.We had dinner out and she aced that.
As for today, she did her daily morning walk. I have to state that her walks deal with a lot of obstacles as well like cars, joggers, barking dogs, squirrels, birds, and other distractions. With a little encouragement, she makes past the large barking dog , all of these obstacles are not standing in her way.

Busy bags go flying !
I would not call this the average day at the mall , I have one pooped pup literally and figuratively. But let me backtrack to the beginning of my adventure. My parents and I woke up early today to get Shirley all ready to go to the Sanford Mall today for training class. Just before we left, I took Shirley to relieve herself (she did busy #1 and 2) and I figured that she would be good for awhile. BOY was I wrong! I will discuss more about that later. Along the way to the mall I-4 turned into a huge parking lot major accident ahead, but thanks to my mom's internal GPS we made a detour and save a lot of time.
We soon arrived (with minutes to spare) and entered the food court of the mall. After a few important notices and handouts and AC Jocelyn review of topics, we went into groups to start the tour and training in the mall. Shirley was very energetic throughout the whole journey, so I had to use the right about command in order to get her less excited . But after ten minutes of walking through the mall, Shirley PEED! I was shocked to see her do that, but I thought not all bad at least she didn't poop. BUT boy was I wrong! Wait its coming .We continue on, all is well. Then it happen one right after another Patriot then Clem AND YES SHIRLEY pooped as well! But our trainer Peggy said that is natural for the puppies to do this at this age, glad Peggy was there. We all cleaned up and shook off the embarrassment as the mall police stood and watched.
On a good note, the puppies went through several training procedures like making the puppy go down under a bench, entering a elevator, watching an escalator (note: guide dogs are not allowed to go on the escalator!), going up and down a few stairs, and all of them did pretty well for not having much experience with these procedures. All of them even did well with a miniature kids train that went past them!
After all of these training procedures, we went back to the food court to end our training and had lunch.
Shirley slept the whole way home, pooped pup figuratively!

2nd Saturday
Today was an action packed day. First I like to start out with the fact that she was perfect on the way to our obedience class. Since we arrived at our destination pretty early, I decided to walk her around the park before anyone came, and we got some great pictures of her walking on the dock .
A few minutes later, the youngest puppies of the group arrived and we decided to let them roam, romp, and play in the tennis court because it was caged. These rambunctious puppies about wore themselves out by running, jumping, fetching a toy, chasing each other, and running through a puddle. And like any puppy with a sense of humor topping it off by rolling in the dirt.
Soon, the other members arrived and class began. Today we shared the positives and negatives about our dogs, so we could learn from each other,Ms Jocelyn shared training tips and updates with the group. We did the usual weaving exercise for a few minutes, which is an important exercise that tests the dog's ability to work without being distracted. After that, we broke up into groups and practiced the weekly routines and commands. Shirley did so much better this week than last week. I am so proud of her like always, but today was a pleasure :)

Shirley goes to Jo-Anns
Today Shirley did her regular rounds, then I had to work so she went to Jo-Anns with my parents . People stopped in their tracks to see this tiny dog going through the store and the Jo-Ann police (Ha Ha ; ) came up to read her vest to make sure she was offical and commented they start out really small. My mom was picking out fabric, Shirley was sitting next to her and my dad was close by and this older women goes to him "I've been watching them, they get around good, does the dog help her pick out the colors? " My dad said "Oh...She's not blind, And he went on to explain a little about southeastern guide dogs and that my family and I are puppy raisers , then the women looked at my mom and smiled and said really loudly good luck with your dog dear.

Superbowl
Superbowl Sunday. We ate a ton of snacks before the game. Also, Shirley picked the Green Bay Packers to win. She did this by us laying out two dog bones: one green(Packers) and yellow(Steelers) . So far her prediction has been right.

Giddy UP
If you haven't guessed it Shirley's Saturday Adventure was to the Equestrian CenterTriple Diamond Ranch in Cassia( Eustis Florida). First I'd like to thank Amanda and her Mom for hosting such a great location and thank you for lunch afterwards . This was a very remote location with a pleasant surprise at the end of a long dirt road. Amanda , attends Four H Class there. She brought out her horse so all the dogs could have the experience of being around a horse .We then went on to some obedeience training. Shirley was resistant to some of the activities; I guess she just wanted to be a puppy today. But I have noticed since I spend so much time with her I think something was wrong with her today she just wasn't herself. Even though she did that, I 'm proud of her! She will get it, I will get it, and my mom said she's proud of us both so what more can anyone ask for.
