Let me catch you up on what has happen so far! Our latest training was at Gemini Park, but boy was the weather nasty! During the meet a steady drizzle from opaque clouds provided us hardly any sunlight. But our group continue with our training with commands like forward, halt, round about, and others.

Also, July 4th is coming up and we will be at Mount Dora watching the parade! This will be a great experience for the dogs because of all the cacophony of noises. I can't wait for that day!

Shirley At The Beach

This is Shirley's first visit to the beach, and she loved it ! And what a perfect day ( for a dog that is). If you noticed we had miles of beach to ourselves ,and the only way  possible to accomplish that  is to go the beach after a storm .

More Outings and Scorching Temps.

Sticking to the shady side of the sidewalk helps.
Today, our family and Shirley went to a few different places today to reinforce her commands and to get her exposed to more objects, people, buildings, noises, etc. She seemed to enjoy going to different stores and lay down on the cool floors and not be outside with the pernicious heat! Since the temps. were in the upper 90's we brought tons of water for Shirley. Due to Shirley being a black labrador, we have to be extra careful that she does not overheat. And believe me, we will.

Hurry; look at all of the TVs in here.

School's out for the Summmmmmer!!!!!

I'm glad to say that my last final has been taken , and I gladly turned in my chem book on the way out. As the last bell rang a behemoth amount of cheers , jeers, and tears flooded the hall ways and continued out into the parking lot .This Saturday, puppy camp ends and I doubt there will be the cheers, jeers and tears. Although Ellie has been fun and this was a new experience I can't wait to get Shirley back .

Week 2 of Puppy Camp! one more week!

Shirley comes home next SATURDAY!!!! She has been gone for two weeks now, we miss you Shirley. We haven't heard any updates yet, but we hope that no news is good news.  Ellie has been with us for two weeks.
Puppy camp is an interesting premise; it helps remind you of the reality and greater objective, and that your puppy is to be placed as a guide dog and needs to perform. It’s learned skills for everyone and in totally new situations. There are things that your visiting pup may do quite well and you realize "Oh we need to work on that with our pup!", and to be fair on the flip side you are so proud of  the important things you have mastered with your own pup and have a renewed sense of pride. This why puppy camp is so important! Pre-puppy camp comments from Ellie's raisers are that she is working on jumping up on people, and we noticed that she does jump up on people and things. Of course it is very exciting to be in a new place, new people, new sounds, and new experiences. But all PAWS on deck is the number one rule! Ellie is getting better at this, but that will continue to be our main focus of our last week together. Ellie is the sweetest pup when comes to down time. Ellie gives new meaning to being right next to you. She curls up right on you; she is like a big old lap dog.

To be continued.......
